GreenSpeed Into the Future...
The Future of Heating Efficiency

Carrier has had another breakthrough in smart efficiency. It’s called GreenSpeed™ intelligence, and it turbo-charges the
efficiency of the Infinity® 98 gas furnace.

If you already have a Carrier gas furnace to heat your home, you know how quiet and efficient they are. GreenSpeed
allows the Infinity control that runs the furnace to gather information about your home’s energy use, your comfort needs, even the outside temperature, and then use what it knows to run the heating system in a way that maximizes comfort while minimizing energy use. For example, a furnace that’s controlled by GreenSpeed intelligence tends to run at lower speeds for longer periods of time, which keeps your rooms more comfortable with quieter operation, using less
gas all the while.

With the introduction of GreenSpeedtechnology, the Infinity 98 furnace now offers a model that is the highest efficiency furnace available to homeowners, with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating up to 98.5%. That means the furnace converts up to 98.5% of all gas it burns into heat—wasting almost no fuel. And the Infinity 98 furnace also comes in a model that is the quietest furnace on the market. Go, GreenSpeed!

If you’re thinking of replacing your current furnace, or if you’--re just sick of the costs associated with your old,
inefficient heater, give us a call today.  We’re really excited about the energy savings and smart operation of the new Infinity 98 furnace with GreenSpeed intelligence, and we will be glad to tell you more about how it works and how
much you can save.

Zap That AC Mold with Ultraviolet Light

UV Kills Pathogens

Is your air conditioner coil sending out a payload of mold spores and bacteria with that nice cool air it circulates in your home?  Pathogens can build up on AC coils, diminishing energy efficiency and seeping out into your home, where they can cause allergies and illness.  Fortunately, it’s easy to shine a light on the dark doings of mold and bacteria with germicidal Ultraviolet Lamps.

UV Lamps are mounted inside your air conditioner, near the indoor coil. By shining their intense ultraviolet-C light on the coil, they destroy mold spores and bacteria before they can sneak out into your home.  UV Lamps operate silently, keeping your coil clean and efficient. When you consider that a pollutant build-up of even 2/1000s of an inch can decrease system efficiency by as much as 9%, you can see the value of stopping spores and bacteria before they can settle in and wreak havoc.

UV Lamps are very low maintenance— just replace the 75-watt bulb once a year. The lamp carries a five-year limited warranty, so you know your family will be breathing cleaner air for years to come.  Ask your dealer whether a single-bulb or double-bulb Ultraviolet Lamp is right for your family’s air conditioner.

Targeted Heating and Cooling

In the Comfort Zone

Does your house have hot and cold spots? Rooms where your teeth are chattering or beads of sweat are forming on your forehead while the rest of the house is relatively comfortable? Your house may be haunted—but it's more likely that it needs a more up-to date heating and cooling system that takes advantage of "zoning" to adjust the comfort levels in each individual part of the house according to the needs of that room or area.

But what is zoning? How does it work?  Simply put, zoning allows you to control the heating and cooling delivered to specific areas of your home (called zones) to maximize performance and energy efficiency while matching the demands of your home and lifestyle. In other words, you don't have to keep the kitchen freezing cold to make it pleasant upstairs, nor must you sleep under sweltering conditions just to keep a small child's room warm.

A zoning system typically consists of two to eight zones. Each zone has its own thermostat, all connected to a central controller that adjusts dampers in the ductwork to send heated or conditioned air to the programmed zones. Zoned heating and cooling can be installed in new construction or retrofitted into existing houses, but wherever you install it, it's sure to bring better comfort conditions and improved utility bills.

Ideal Humidity

Experts say the recommended humidity level indoors is 40% to 50%.  Summer can bring high humidity that can make you uncomfortable and
can cause warped wood, dripping water pipes and growth of mold and spores. Winter is the opposite, with everything shriveled and cracked in
a too-dry house. Fortunately, you don't have to live with high or low  humidity.

Many people control humidity through the use of central air conditioning. But sometimes your house has reached a comfortable indoor temperature, so your system isn't actively cooling. Unfortunately, high humidity levels continue to make you feel sticky.

There is a solution. IdealHumidity™ is a Carrier exclusive-and it provides both humidity and temperature control independent of heating or
cooling demand. While all air conditioning systems dehumidify during the cooling operation, the IdealHumidity system is designed to control humidity even when cooling isn't needed. When moisture in the air is too high, the Thermidistat™ Control can turn the system on at a very low fan speed to adjust humidity.

The best news of all is that the system provides IdealHumidity all year long. In cold weather, when humidity is low, the system adds moisture to the air, even when there's no need for additional heating. It's perfect comfort...with IdealHumidity.
